Mohammed Kudus stars as Ghana keep World Cup campaign alive

Ajax’s 22 year-old midfielder Mohammed Kudus was the star of the show as Ghana beat South Korea 3-2 to give themselves a chance of qualification for the knock-out stages. Kudus scored twice, once in the 34th minute to give the Black Stars a 2-0 lead and what proved to be the winner in the 68th minute. South Korea had levelled things up after being 2-0 down, but the response through Kudus means that Ghana are still in contention for getting out of the group.

After their 3-2 defeat to Portugal in their opening match, Otto Addo had been criticised for taking Kudus off. He hit back at the media over this criticism, but gave Kudus 83 minutes in this game.

The Ajax star has been performing well for his club this season, with 5 goals in 14 appearances domestically, alongside the four he has scored in the Champions League.

Ghana face Uruguay in their final group game, a repeat of the dramatic fixture from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
