Tajon Buchanan’s strong performance not enough for Canada as The Maple Leaves are knocked out of the World Cup

Club Brugge’s Tajon Buchanan put in another solid display for his country against Croatia, however it was not enough as his side suffered a 4-1 defeat. This defeat means that Canada are out of the World Cup, with their final match against Morocco being one for pride.

Buchanan provided the assist for Alphonso Davies opening goal, which gave Canada a 1-0 lead and the chance of an upset. Buchanan completed four dribbles during the match, the most of either side. He also recovered the ball 11 times, as he put in work at both ends of the pitch.

Buchanan’s Club Brugge teammate Cyle Larin, also started in this game, having come off the bench against Belgium. Larin was Canada’s star during the qualifying, however he is lacking in match sharpness having not played much for his club side. Larin was taken off at half-time.

Canada will face Morocco in their final group game. Morocco can go through with a draw or a win, after they shocked Belgium with a 2-0 win.
