Brian Laudrup advises Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen to return to Ajax this summer

Danish icon Brian Laudrup has advised Christian Eriksen to return to Ajax this summer due to the midfielders lack of game time at Manchester United. Eriksen, 32, joined United on a free transfer two years ago, when ex-Ajax boss Erik ten Hag took over. The Danish midfielder featured 28 times in the Premier League during his first season at Old Trafford, but this season he’s been limited to just nine starts. The former Ajax fan favourite seems to be heading towards an exit.

Brian Laudrup, who also experienced a spell at Ajax, has advised Christian Eriksen to make a move back to the Johan Cruyff Arena as soon as possible. ‘If I look at the possibilities and where he comes from, in my experience Ajax would be a fantastic place where he would do well for a few more years,’ Laudrup told Viaplay. ‘After his cardiac arrest, he also rehabilitated in Amsterdam. He knows the city, the language and the club. They would welcome him home like a king.’

Christian Eriksen rebooted his career at Brentford after the incident that occurred with Denmark during Euro 2020, but Laudrup believes the Premier League is becoming too physically demanding and thinks a return to Amsterdam would be a better fit for this stage in his career. ‘They might get an old midfield with Henderson and Eriksen, but it is a slightly easier league where he can help build the team.’ Ajax fans would certainly welcome Eriksen back to Amsterdam, especially after the nightmare season they’re currently experiencing.
