Former Chelsea and Brighton boss Graham Potter rejects opportunity to manage Ajax

According to Sky Sports, Graham Potter has rejected the opportunity to manage Ajax after the Dutch giants made him their number one target for next season. Ajax held talks with the former Chelsea and Brighton boss, but he has officially rejected their offer.

Ajax are currently enduring their worst season since the introduction of professional football in the Netherlands. The club started the season down in the bottom three, under the management of Maurice Steijn, and now John Van ‘t Schip is in charge on an interim basis until the end of the season. On Sunday, Ajax’s humiliating campaign hit a new low as they suffered a 6-0 defeat to Feyenoord in De Klassieker, their heaviest-ever defeat to the Rotterdam rivals. The club are currently 33 points off Eredivisie leaders PSV and sit sixth in the table.

There are currently several managers on Ajax’s shortlist, but Graham Potter was said to be the prime target. Potter is not interested in the role at this time. The 48-year-old is expected to be on Manchester United’s shortlist, should they decide to sack Erik ten Hag this summer.
