Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaj ruled out for the rest of the season after fracturing elbow in game against Go Ahead Eagles

Things have just gone from bad to worse for Ajax as the club have confirmed that goalkeeper Diant Ramaj could miss the remainder of the season after the German fractured his elbow on Thursday night. Ramaj started between the sticks during the game against Go Ahead Eagles, in which Ajax conceded a 92nd minute goal resulting in a 1-1 draw.

Diant Ramaj dropped down to the ground as Go Ahead Eagles defender Bas Kuipers blasted the ball into the back of the net. The 22-year-old stayed down in discomfort, clutching his elbow. “I still hope to be able to play this season,” Ramaj said after Thursday’s draw. “I’m going to do everything I can to achieve that but it’s probably going to be difficult.”

Ramaj joined Ajax from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt last summer. He’s featured 31 times for the first team, solidifying a spot as the Amsterdam clubs number one shot stopper. The German youth international will miss this Sundays De Klassieker at De Kuip.
