Feyenoord thrash Ajax 6-0 in De Klassieker recording their biggest ever victory over the Amsterdam club

Feyenoord Rotterdam have recorded a remarkable 6-0 victory in De Klassieker, sending Ajax back to Amsterdam as a national laughing stock. Arne Slot’s side were huge favourites heading into Sunday’s clash, but nobody could have predicted them to have come away with a 6-0 victory.

Ajax are currently experiencing their worst season since the introduction of football in the Netherlands. They’ve now lost eight and drawn nine of their 29 league games so far this season, and they’re currently on a run of just two wins in their last ten Eredivisie games. The Dutch giants were without Jordan Henderson, Steven Berghuis, Diant Ramaj and Brian Brobbey for the game against Feyenoord, leaving John Van ‘t Schipwith the only option of fielding a young and inexperienced side.

Feyenoord have experienced another incredible campaign, although the power of PSV has proved too much for the current Eredivisie champions, leaving them second in the table. The Rotterdam club have netted 12 goals in their last five games prior to this clash. Against Ajax, the goals began to pour in around the half hour mark. Igor Paixão, Yankuba Minteh and David Hancko all found the back of the net in the first half. Minteh, on loan at Feyenoord from Newcastle United, made it 4-0 just before the hour mark and Paixão bagged his brace shortly after. Quinten Timber was also on the scoresheet for the hosts.

John Van ‘t Schip’s Ajax registered one shot on goal during the entire match. Feyenoord took 29 shots in the match, converting six times. Another dreadful display from the Dutch giants, sending them down the table into 6th place, denting their chances of playing any European football next season. Ajax now trail Feyenoord by 24 points in the table. Up next, they face inform Twente at the Johan Cruyff Arena. Their terrible campaign has taken another huge blow.
