Union St Gilloise v LASK Preview | Brussels side looking to transfer league form to the Europa League

Union St Gilloise face LASK in the Europa League on Thursday evening looking to grab their first win in the competition. So far, the side have one point from an opening day draw with Toulouse. They narrowly lost 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield, with bottom side LASK coming to Brussels next. LASK have lost both of their Europa League games so far this season, losing 3-1 at home to Liverpool before a 1-0 away defeat to Toulouse.

Austrian side LASK are currently third in the Austrian Bundesliga, with six wins, three draws and two defeats from their opening 11 games. Sturm Graz currently top the table with 27 points, while Salzburg are second with 23. Robert Zulj is the dangerman for the Linsk based side, with five goals in his 11 appearances for the side. Head coach Thomas Sageder is in his first season as head coach of the club. LASK are coming in to the game with confidence, having beaten Salzburg 1-0 thanks to a Zulj goal at the weekend.

Union are currently top of the Belgian Pro League and are on a five game winning streak in the Pro League. Their only defeat since the 21st of September was to Liverpool on the 5th October. In their last two games, the side have scored eight goals and conceded just one, with a 4-0 win over Sint-Truiden and a 4-1 win over Eupen. Cameron Puertas is the star man so far this season, with seven assists to his name already.

Union will be hoping that Liverpool can beat Toulouse to open up the chance to grab second spot in the group.
