Bologna have signed Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bayern Munich, with a buy-back option for the German club included in the deal.
After impressing on loan at Anderlecht last season, there was a huge amount of interest in Zirkzee this summer with the Belgian club, rivals Club Brugge, PSV, Fulham and multiple Bundesliga sides all linked with him.
Bologna have now beaten all of them to his signature though, announcing that he has joined the Italian club on a four-year deal.
However, Bayern Munich remain interested in his development and have included a buy-back option in the transfer.
“There is great potential in Joshua Zirkzee, and regular assignments are now fundamental to his development,” said Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic.
“Therefore, we have complied with his request and have agreed with FC Bologna on a transfer.
“The agreements include a return option because Joshua remains a highly interesting player for us. We will monitor his development in Bologna and wish him every success in Serie A.”
