Ghana’s Denis Odoi looking to replicate Saudi Arabia ahead of clash with Portugal

Ghana and Club Brugge defender Denis Odoi is looking to emulate the Saudi Arabia performance against Argentina when the Black Stars face Portugal on the 24th of November. As reported by Ghana Soccernet, Odoi said “Obviously we’ve seen what Saudi Arabia did against Argentina. It proves that you still have to play every game. It’s not because you’re a small country playing against a bigger country“.

Odoi recently changed international allegiance from Belgium to Ghana, having gotten his first cap for the West African nation during the World Cup Qualification play-off against rivals Nigeria. The former Fulham defender has been capped four times by the Black Stars, and will be appearing in his first ever World Cup at the age of 34. Odoi was capped once by Belgium almost a decade ago.

Ghana will open their campaign against Portugal, before facing off against South Korea and Uruguay to round out Group H. The final game against Uruguay will be a repeat of the highly controversial knock-out tie between the two sides that took place at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
