Former PSV boss Ruud van Nistelrooy in talks to become Club Brugge head coach

According to Het Nieuwsblad, Ruud van Nistelrooy is in talks with Club Brugge over the vacant head coach role. The former Manchester United and Netherlands national team striker left PSV Eindhoven at the end of last season due to a lack of support at the club, and since then he’s been without a club. Van Nistelrooy is reportedly in Belgium at the moment, carrying out talks with the side sat fourth in the Pro League table ahead of their fixtures in the Championship round.

Ruud van Nistelrooy was also a candidate for the Heerenveen job, but the 47-year-old indicated that a challenge abroad was preferred. The Dutchman isn’t the only candidate on Club Brugge’s shortlist, as current Schalke 04 boss Karel Geraerts is also in the picture. Just over a week ago, Norwegian head coach Ronny Deila was sacked as Club Brugge boss, following a spell that lasted less than a year. Whoever succeeds Deila will most likely takeover at the end of the campaign.

Club Brugge have failed to mount a serious title challenge and were knocked out of the domestic cup in the semi-finals, despite holding a lead in the first leg. They’ve lost several crucial game this season and are in need of a rebuild ahead of next season. Ruud van Nistelrooy Is a serious candidate for the role.
