Galatasaray offer Dries Mertens lucrative contract, player considering options

Galatasaray have offered Dries Mertens a contract that would see him earn an annual net salary of €4 million plus add-ons, and he is now considering his options.

The 35-year-old became a free agent this summer with his contract at Napoli expiring, and numerous clubs from all over the world have been interested in signing him.

He has been linked with the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan, Lazio, Antwerp, Newcastle and Leeds, but Galatasaray now look most likely to be his next club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, they have offered him €4 million a year plus add-ons to play for them, and while the deal is only a year-long, it would be extended by another if the club qualify for the Champions League this season.

He has yet to respond to the offer, but Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that the forward is leaning towards accepting it.
