Utrecht complete second signing ahead of the new season as Excelsior star joins on a free transfer

FC Utrecht have announced the signing of defender Siebe Horemans, who will join the club at the end of the campaign from Excelsior Rotterdam. The 25-year-old right-back has put pen to paper on a deal at the Stadion Galgenwaard, making the him Utrecht’s second signing ahead of the new season.

Siebe Horemans has been one of the standout stars in a struggling Excelsior side this season. The versatile defender has scored three goals and provided three assists in 26 games this season. Horemans joined the club from Gent in 2018, and since signing for the Rotterdam club the Belgian has added value both defensively and offensively.

FC Utrecht, the side occupying 8th place in the Eredivisie table, have already announced the arrival of Alonzo Engwanda from Anderlecht. Ron Jans’ have been a solid mid-table side for several years now, but will be hoping to push on up the rankings next season. In the last five campaigns they’ve finished sixth three times and seventh twice.
