Dirk Kuyt sacked as ADO Den Haag head coach

Dirk Kuyt has been sacked as ADO Den Haag head coach, De Telegraaf reports.

The former Ajax player was shown the door by the Eerste Divisie side after a poor run of form with the club announcing it is a “difficult day of the club”.

It has been a disappointing half to the season for Den Haag having narrowly missed out on promotion last season under Giovanni Franken – who is the current U21 coach.

They sit in 17th place in the league and are eight points from the play-off spots and 19 behind PEC Zwolle who sit in the second promotion spot.

Despite Kuyt’s future at the club in doubt before the World Cup started, the news of the former Liverpool player’s sacking still comes a shock considering yesterday he was seen on a team bonding exercise and paddling with his squad.

Kuyt was at the club for just 176 days picking up four league wins from 16 matches.
