Rangers loanee grabs second Eredivisie goal to earn FC Utrecht draw

Sam Lammers scored the second goal of his loan spell in the Eredivisie this weekend. The striker is currently on loan at FC Utrecht from Scottish side Rangers. He grabbed his first goal for the club on the 11th of February in the sides 4-0 win over Fortuna Sittard.

The number nine equalised for the side away to Almere City FC after 14 minutes, tapping home inside the six-yard box. The Dutch youth international began his career in the Eredivisie with PSV, with his most successful time being on loan at SC Heerenveen during the 2018/2019 season. In 35 games for the club he scored 19 goals. Lammers has since played for Atalanta, Eintracht Frankfurt, Empoli and Sampdoria before joining Rangers in the summer of 2023. In 31 games for the side he scored two goals.

In just nine games for Utrecht the striker has already matched the total he scored in Scotland this season. Rangers gave Lammers a contract until 2027 in the summer, and there is no purchase option included in the loan. The hope will be that he can regain some confidence and form in the Eredivisie before returning to Scotland in the summer.
