Westerlo sign Manchester City prospect Adedire Emmanuel Awokoya-Mebude

Westerlo have announced the signing of now former Manchester City academy player Adedire Emmanuel Awokoya-Mebude. The 19-year-old winger, who is eligible to play for either Scotland or Nigeria, has signed a four year deal with the side and take the number 13. Over the course of his time with the Manchester City academy, Awokoya-Mebude scored 30 goals and delivered another 34 assists in 71 games.

The youngster signed just a day after the club also announced the signing of young Croatian striker Matija Frigan. The 2022/2023 season was the breakout one for Frigan, having spent previous years on loan at a handful of other Croatian sides. He can play as a striker, but also as a winger.

Westerlo have already signed a striker during the summer transfer window, with Irsan Muric coming over from Club Brugge. The Belgian teenager, who is also eligible for Serbia, has signed a three year contract with Westerlo, with an option for a further two years.
