Konstantinos Laifis could join former Crystal Palace manager in the UAE

LDH are reporting that Konstantinos Laifis will not be playing for Standard Liege this season. The Cypriot defender only returned to training last Friday, and has options in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The side in the UAE are Al Jazira, managed by former Crystal Palace and Netherlands head coach Frank De Boer. He would join another former Premier League man in Neeskans Kebano, who left Fulham to join the side for free this summer. However, the report suggest that the 30-year-old central defender would prefer to move to Saudi Arabia, although the interested side is not yet known.

Laifis began his career with Anorthosis before moving to Greek giants Olympiacos in the summer of 2016. However, he never made an appearance for the Greek side as he immediately went on loan to Standard for two seasons. In the summer of 2018, after he had made 79 appearances and scored three goals, Standard made the move permanent. Since then he has made 177 appearances for the side and scored 11 goals. At international level, Laifis has played 52 games for Cyprus and scored three times.
