On Friday night against Westerlo Mario Gonzalez netted twice to bring his tally for the season to 13. The on loan Braga striker has played 16 games in all competitions for OH Leuven since joining the side in the summer.
According to FotMob stats, Gonzalez is outperforming his 9.6 xG, with 11 of his goals coming from inside the box. Four of his goals have come from the spot, with 10 off his right foot and two from the left foot. Gonzelez has a high conversion rate, with 20 shots on target this season.
The 26 year-old Spanish striker is close to matching his best ever scoring season, which was the 2020/2021 season when he was on loan with Tondela when the side were in the top flight of Portuguese football. Gonzalez began his career with Villarael, but moved to Braga in in the summer of 2021. In 25 games for the Portuguese club he only managed four goals, with the striker being moved to Tenerife in January on loan. Gonzelez scored six goals in 20 games for Tenerife.
