Standard Liege fans call out 777 during sides 1-1 draw with RWDM

Standard Liege fans held up a banner calling out owners 777 during the game against RWDM on Saturday evening. The fans unfurled a banner which called out the lack of money and ambition that they believe has been shown by the owners during the transfer window. Their mood was not improved after a 1-1 draw against the newly promoted RWDM, meaning that Standard are currently without a win from their first six matches. The side have three points from draws against Charleroi, RWDM and Kortrijk.

With the departure of Rony Deila near the end of last season, which was reportedly based on a lack of ambition he saw in the ownerships plans for the current season, all eyes were on the club to see how they would respond. However, fans have not seen the moves they wanted and the struggles on the pitch to start the season have magnified the issues.

The club are reportedly working on trying to bring Malian international Moussa Djenepo back from Southampton, but his wages may prove a stumbling block. Either way, Standard do need to bring in some more quality to help ease the fans nerves and turn things around on the pitch.

777 are also the majority owners of Hertha Berlin and Genoa, with Everton reportedly set to be their next purchase.
