Tarik Tissoudali stepping up after the departures of Gift Orban and Hugo Cuypers

Tarik Tissoudali has been a key player for Gent since joining the side during the winter transfer window of the 2020/2021 season. The former Beerschot forward scored six goals in 17 games during his first half of the season with the club, following that up with an impressive 27 goals in 52 games during the 2021/2022 campaign. The Moroccan international scored 21 league goals that season, his best league output since playing for Telstar in the Dutch second tier.

Sadly, injuries the following year cost him a chance of appearing for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, while also restricting him to just two goals and 15 appearances. Many wondered if he would be able to bounce back, but so far this season he has shown that he still has the ability to be a goal threat. With 14 league goals in 20 games this season, he leads the Buffaloes and has played a huge part in their season after they lost Gift Orban and Hugo Cuypers in January.

The 31-year-old has a contract at the club until 2026 and has probably missed the boat on one final big transfer. Instead, he should be focusing on adding to his 55 goals and 27 assists for the club in 132 games. On his day, he remains one of the most entertaining attacking players in the Belgian Pro League.
