Ramiz Zerrouki transfer to Feyenoord delights Arne Slot

Arne Slot has spoken of his delight in bolstering his midfield options for next season with the signing of FC Twente’s Ramiz Zerrouki, he told De Telegraaf.

The signing of the 24-year-old comes as a welcome boost after Slot has commented on the lack of depth in the midfield with the likes of Orkun Kokcu and Mats Wieffer heavily involved in the midfield – especially when Fredrik Aursnes moved to Benfica last August.

Feyenoord have other options including Quinten Timber but with the 21-year-old still out with a knee injury, the options are thin which is something Slot has not hold back on even when he had a full-strength squad.

“So it’s great that we managed to get him in,” said Slot. “We never actually got a replacement for Fredrik Aursnes. Timber was injured in recent weeks and you are glad that Kokcu and Wieffer remain intact.

“We are thin in midfield. Zerrouki is someone who guards the balance and shapes the structure. He takes a lot of balls and is a winner. Then you are an asset to many clubs.”

The signing comes as the Rotterdam-based club go into the weekend potentially lifting their first Eredivisie title in six years. A win at Excelsior will not be enough unless second-place PSV Eindhoven drop points against Sparta Rotterdam – who have picked up three wins in their last five outings.
