Everton’s Isaac Price set to join Standard Liege in the summer

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that Everton midfielder Isaac Price is set to join Standard Liege in the summer. The 19-year-old Northern Ireland international is set to sign a four year deal with Standard when his contract with the Premier League side expires in the summer. Despite making his debut for the Toffees this season, the club and player have failed to agree new terms and it looks like Price will be departing England and moving to Liege.

This comes after reports began to surface that Standard head coach Ronny Deila was seeking assurances from the board on the direction the club was looking to go in in the summer. Deila has done a remarkable job with a tight budget for the club, putting them in contention for the top four which was beyond many people’s expectations for the club. This success has seen him linked with the upcoming vacancy at Club Brugge, who have been impressed with the work the former Celtic and Valarenga head coach has done in Liege.

Whether or not signing Price will swing the decision for Deila remains to be seen, but it is certainly a sign of direction for the club to bring in a young player of his calibre.
