Brian Riemier hails Liverpool and Manchester United target Bart Verbruggen as the best goalkeeper in Belgium

Anderlecht head coach Brian Riemer has called Anderlecht’s young Dutch goalkeeping sensation Bart Verbruggen as the best goalkeeper in Belgium. As reported by Voetbalkrant, the Mauves head coach said ‘For me he is the best goalkeeper in the Jupiler Pro League. I would not change him for anyone. He is one of the most important players in the team now. And it is important to remember that he is only 20 and so much more has more potential’.

Verbruggen was of interest to one English side in the summer. Vincent Kompany, shortly after departing Anderlecht for Burnley, attempted to bring the Dutch goalkeeper to Lancashire with him, but was unable to strike a deal. Since then, Verbruggen’s breakthrough into the first team has increased his transfer value significantly. Now, the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool are showing interest in the 20-year-old. It is likely that the club will cash in on the keeper in the summer to help finance an improvement of the rest of the squad.

Verbruggen is not the only Anderlecht player of interest to Premier League sides. West Ham, Leeds and Brighton are all reportedly pursuing the 19-year-old central defender Zeno Debast. The defender has been capped three times for the Belgian national team and has a contract with the Brussels based side until 2025.
