Tragedy narrowly avoided as former Lazio midfielder Sofian Kiyine crashes into sports hall used by local children

As reported by HLN, a tragedy was narrowly avoided on Thursday after OH Leuven midfielder Sofian Kiyine car came off a roundabout at speed to crash into a sports hall that was being used by local children. Thankfully no one was seriously injured, with the player having to go to hospital but not in any danger. The video of the incident shows the car driven by Kiyine speeding a long the road near the hall before coming off at a roundabout and plowing into the sports hall. There had been a group of children using the hall at the time, but all of them had gone back to the changing rooms when the incident took place.

OH Leuven have released a statement on the incident, saying that they wish their midfielder a speedy recovery and will wait to hear more about the circumstances surrounding the incident before commenting further. It is likely that Kiyine will have played his last game for the club this season given the injuries likely sustained.

The former Lazio midfielder joined the club in the summer for an undisclosed fee and has made 21 appearances, scoring twice and providing two assists.
