RWDM appoint Bruno Irles as new head coach in hope to avoid relegation

RWDM have announced the appointment of Bruno Irles as the clubs new head coach. The Brussels based side have moved quickly to replace former Newcastle and Lyon defender Cláudio Caçapa, who was sacked after the side lost 4-0 at home to Antwerp last weekend. Irles signs a deal that will last until the end of the season, with the hope being that he can turn around the sides slide down the table and the chance of dropping back down to the Challenger Pro League.

Irles has been out of work since being sacked by Troyes back in November of 2022. He has also spent time in charge of Moldovan giants Sheriff FC, Pau FC and Quevilly Rouen. As a player, Ilres spent his career with Monaco.

His job is to now turn around the fortunes of RWDM, who have only picked up two wins since the start of December, with another two draws in those 12 games. Irles takes over with the side sitting third from bottom but only three points away from safety. This season in the Pro League the bottom four will fight it out to avoid relegation, with the bottom two going down and third bottom facing the relegation play-off. This will be a two legged affair against the side that wins the play-offs in the Challenger Pro League.
