FC Utrecht announce first signing of the 2024/2025 season

FC Utrecht have already announced a signing for next season. Belgian youth international Alonzo Engwanda will join the club from Anderlecht in the summer and has signed a four-year contract with the Eredivisie side. The 21-year-old midfielder has been captain of the Anderlecht second team, known as the RSCA Futures, who play in the Belgian second tier, the Challenger Pro League.

Engwanda, who can play as a central defender as well as a central midfielder, has played 16 matches in the Challenger Pro League this season, providing one assist. The young midfielder’s contract was due to expire in the summer so Utrecht have been able to pick him up for free. As a result, he will leave Anderlecht without having made an appearance for the first team.

Having been capped at multiple youth levels by Belgium, Engwanda is also eligible to switch his international allegiance to the DR Congo in the future.
