PSV unlikely to sign Jarrad Branthwaite permanently due to high asking price from Everton

PSV are unlikely to sign Jarrad Branthwaite permanently due to Everton’s high asking price. The young centre-back has played an integral role in PSV’s backline since joining on loan from Everton last summer.

According to Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV were keen on keeping the 20-year-old at the Philips Stadion but Everton are asking for at least £12 million. That fee is too high for PSV. Now the club are searching for other defensive options.

Jarrad Branthwaite has played 36 times for PSV across all competitions this season. Under Ruud van Nistelrooy, who resigned from his role this week, the defender has developed incredibly well. Branthwaite played the full 120 minutes in PSV’s KNVB Cup final victory over Ajax last month. He’s also helped the club reach second place in the Eredivisie, with one game remaining. A return to PSV could be a possibility for the Englishman if Everton allows him to leave on loan again. If he remains at Goodison Park, he’ll have an opportunity to fight for a starting spot in Everton’s backline.
