Former Arsenal and Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelan called into action as intruder interrupts Belgian training

Security around the Belgian training camp in Kuwait was called into question when an intruder was able to interrupt training by running onto the training pitch during a session. Former Red Devils defender and now coach Thomas Vermaelen was on hand to intercept the intruder.

Het Nieuwsblad spoke to the intruder following the incident, who claimed he was just trying to get an autograph from Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne. Questions will certainly be raised as to how the individual was able to gain access to the field so easily, despite his benign intentions. It is expected that security will be tightened for the Red Devils training in Kuwait going forward.

Belgium kick off their World Cup campaign against debutants Canada on the 23rd of November, before facing Morocco and Croatia in the other two group games. Against Morocco, they will be up against former Red Devil youth player Anass Zaroury, who was recently called up by the Atlas Lions to replace the injured Amine Harit.
