Feyenoord looking to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Belgian defender Thomas Meunier

According to 1908.NL, Feyenoord are showing serious interest in Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier. The current Dutch Champions have already opened talks with Dortmund, but they’re yet to submit an official offer.

Meunier has slipped down the pecking order at Dortmund in recent campaigns. This season, the 32-year-old has featured just four times in the Bundesliga and frequent injuries have played a part in that lack of game time. Thomas Meunier has experienced an incredible career so far, having helped Paris Saint-Germain to three Ligue 1 titles, three Coupe de France titles and three French League Cups. The 62-time Belgian international lifted the DFB-Pokal with Dortmund in 2021 and he’s also won two trophies with Club Brugge.

The big question with a player like Thomas Meunier is, how much money would it take for him to come to Rotterdam? During his time at PSG, his market value was estimated at €35m. Four years later, that estimation has dropped to around €3m. Meunier’s current contract expires this summer, which means Feyenoord may wait until then to make a move.

Thomas Meunier’s experience would certainly help Feyenoord, who have struggled to replicate last season’s remarkable title charge. Arne Slot’s side are currently second in the Eredivisie table having already lost two games. PSV Eindhoven are currently 10 points ahead in the table, so there’s a lot of catching up to do.
