Alfred Schreuder convinces Jay Gorter to remain at Ajax

Alfred Schreuder has convinced Jay Gorter to change his mind and remain at Ajax for the coming season.

With Andre Onana leaving at the start of the summer, Gorter entered this season aiming to become the new first-choice goalkeeper at the club.

It looked like he’d get his wish when he was given a starting spot against PSV in the Johan Cruijff Schaal, but disaster then struck when he made a huge mistake in the match, one that led to his side conceding.

As a result, he was then dropped for the opening Eredivisie games for the season and didn’t take well to that, telling Ajax that he wanted to leave.

However, he has now changed his mind according to ESPN, with the Dutchman willing to remain at the club following a meeting with manager Schreuder.

As a result, Ajax now won’t have to look for another goalkeeper this summer, which means they most likely won’t do any more business unless Antony leaves for Manchester United.
