Following their narrow defeat to Club Brugge, Zulte Waregem head coach hinted that the side were close to adding another defender to the squad. Voetbalkrant are reporting that Leye was referring to Strasbourg’s Polish youth international Karol Fila. The 24-year-old full-back has only made two Ligue 1 appearances this season and it looks like Zulte Waregem are keen to take advantage of the players lack of game time.
Fila joined Strasbourg from Lechia Gdansk in the summer of 2021, where he made 102 appearances and scored four goals, while also providing nine assists. The defender has only made 19 appearances for the French side since joining for a fee in the region of €1.50m.
Zulte Waregem have been active in the transfer market as they look to avoid relegation, with the club targeting midfield experience. So far they have brought in former Club Brugge captain Ruud Vormer and Sint-Truiden attacking midfielder Christian Brüls.
