Xavi Simons has no intention of returning to PSG

Xavi Simons has confirmed a clause in his PSV contract allows him to return to PSG next summer if he wants to, but he says he has no intention of doing so.

The 19-year-old left the French champions to join PSV on a free transfer in the summer but, as has been previously reported, confirmed in an interview with his new club that a clause in his current contract states he can return to Paris under certain circumstances.

“It is true that there is a clause, but it is between me and PSV. PSG is separate from that,” he explained.

“It’s a clause that says if I want to go to PSG at the end of the season, I can do that for a certain amount.”

That amount is one that PSG could easily afford to pay, somewhere between €10m and €12m, but the midfielder says he has no plans to activate the clause.

“To be honest, it’s not in my head to leave here. I feel good here and I’ve just settled in. I think you can see that on the field,” he added.

Given the clause is only active until the end of the next summer transfer window, it looks likely that PSV will be able to keep him for more than a year.
