Tottenham willing to spend €30m on Gift Orban

Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Tottenham are willing to offer Gent up to €30m for striker Gift Orban. According to Tavolieri, the side are willing to spend more than market value now, rather than what could be even more if Orban does well in another league. With the striker having been linked to France, Spurs are anticipating that he could do well there and then cost them closer to €60m in the future.

Orban has already stated his ambition to move to a bigger league in recent weeks. Speaking after the Buffaloes demolition of Slovak Zilina in the qualification rounds for the Europa Conference League, Gent’s young Nigerian striker was asked about his future. Orban said ‘I love Belgium, but I want to go to a bigger league’. He did then go on to say that he does love playing for Gent and while he is still under contract with the Buffaloes he will give his all.

Orban only joined Gent in January, but his immediate success in Belgium has seen him heavily linked with a move to Lille. The French side are said to be leading the race to sign him, seeing the Nigerian as a replacement for Jonathan David. The Canadian was also signed by Lille from Gent a few seasons ago. Orban scored an incredible 20 goals in just 22 games during his first half a season in Belgium. Gent are looking for around €25m for the striker, with Lens also said to be interested.
