The 16-year-old boy who racially abused Ajax’s Brian Brobbey in September handed punishment by the Public Prosecution Service

The Public Prosecution Service has given the 16-year-old boy who racially abused Ajax striker Brian Brobbey a work and/or learning order. On the 17th of September, after Ajax’s away clash with Twente, a 16-year-old boy made discriminatory noises towards Brobbey as he boarded the Ajax team bus. Today, the person involved has been found guilty and will face punishment, De Telegraaf reports.

A work and/or learning order has been assigned to the boy. He has also written an apology letter to Brian Brobbey and has received a stadium ban. The insult caused a lot of outrage and it must be clear that this will not be tolerated,’ the Public Prosecution Service wrote on Wednesday. ‘On the other hand, the boy has never been in contact with the police before. He acted under peer pressure and was unable to foresee the impact of his actions. The boy was confronted with many reactions after his act and was banned from the stadium.’

Brian Brobbey is happy with the punishment and says the boy ‘has to learn from his mistake.’ Speaking to the media ahead of Ajax’s Europa League clash with Brighton, Brobbey said ‘Unfortunately it (racism) happens everywhere. It is especially annoying for the people who experience it. It doesn’t really bother me personally, it’s just good-for-nothings who make racist comments.’
