Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Standard Liege are interested in young Sporting CP defender Renato Veiga. The 20-year-old can play as a central defender or as a defensive midfielder. Last season the defender was loaned to Bundesliga side FC Augsburg, where he played 13 matches. the defender has yet to make an appearance for the Sporting senior side.
Standard have had a poor start to the season, picking up just one point from their first four games. They have also only scored once in their opening matches, which came against rivals Sporting Charleroi. The clubs majority investors, 777, are coming under pressure from the fanbase over lack of transfer and lack of squad quality. As an investment group, the clubs entire portfolio has been struggling to start the season, with Hertha Berlin currently winless in Bundesliga 2.
The side face Kortrijk in their next game, the only side in Belgium who are yet to have won a point.
