Out of time: Noa Lang plays just 7 minutes in Qatar as tournament fails to provide transfer springboard

Noa Lang was a surprise inclusion in the Dutch squad for the 2022 World Cup, given that he had not nailed down a first choice place at Club Brugge. Lang has been heavily linked with a transfer away from the Belgian side since his breakout season in 2020-2021, in which he managed to score 16 goals and provide 7 assists. Lang followed this up with a 7 goal 12 assist season, during which he expressed his desire for a new challenge.

Over the summer, Lang reportedly turned down moves abroad, waiting for the one he considered to be the right move. None materialised, and the World Cup gave the opportunity for Lang to boost his transfer prospects. However, he managed just 7 minutes which came in the final game against Argentina.

If Lang is wanting to make a move in January, he may have to re-asses his prospects, or force his way back into the first team for the second half of the season. Both Leeds and AC Milan had reported interest in the attacker.
