Loïs Openda price increase is good news for Club Brugge

RB Leipzig apparent €30m offer for Lens striker Lois Openda was rejected by the French club. The 23-year-old Belgian striker has been red hot this season, scoring 21 league goals in 38 games. Lens paid over €11m to Club Brugge to bring the striker to France after the striker had impressed on loan with Vitesse in the Eredivisie. As part of that transfer, Club Brugge negotiated a 12.5% sell on fee. Therefore, as the price for Openda goes up, so does the amount that the Belgian side will earn. They will be hoping Lens can hold out for an even bigger fee.

Remarkably, Openda rarely featured in Blue and Black during his time at the club. In 53 games for Club Brugge, Openda only scored five goals and provided four assists. Compare this to his time in the Netherlands where he grabbed 37 goals and 11 assists in 88 games. Many are hopeful that he could be the eventual successor to Romelu Lukaku in terms of leading the line for the Belgian national team.
