FC Utrecht have completed the signing of Ryan Flamingo from Sassuolo. The 20-year-old defender has returned to the Eredivisie on a season-long loan, and Utrecht will have the option to buy the centre-back at the end of the campaign.
Flamingo spent last season on loan with Vitesse. The Dutchman featured 33 times in the league scoring three goals and providing one assist as Vitesse finished the season in 10th place.
Ryan Flamingo left the Netherlands at 17 to join Sassuolo from Almere City. The youngster played 58 matches for the Italian side’s youth academy, but he was never given the opportunity to play first-team football. After his spell with Vitesse, the club looked to sign him permanently but found his price tag was too much.
Now, he’ll be playing for FC Utrecht, who finished in seventh place last season and are looking to make more progress. They appear to have had an impressive transfer window, bringing in the likes of Isac Lidberg, Marouan Azarkan, Adrian Blake, Mattijs Branderhorst, Souffian El Karouani, Zidane Iqbal, Ole Romeny and Mats Seuntjens. Ryan Flamingo is the latest addition to this talented squad.
