Edson Alvarez not training with Ajax as he looks to force Chelsea move

Edson Alvarez is not training with Ajax and is pushing the club to let him leave for Chelsea today.

The English club placed a bid of €50m last night for the Mexican midfielder, who quickly told Ajax that he wanted them to accept the offer and let him go.

With no time to sign a replacement though, they didn’t do so and were adamant that no more players would leave the club in this transfer window.

Now, according to De Telegraaf, Alvarez has done exactly the same as Antony and Mohammed Kudus: refuse to train in an attempt to force their hand.

The strategy worked for Antony, who got his move to Manchester United, but has yet to do so for Kudus, who wants to leave for Everton.

Losing Alvarez would be a big blow for Ajax with no ideal replacements in the squad, especially as title rivals PSV are set to keep hold of Cody Gakpo and Ibrahim Sangare.
