Sport are reporting that Barcelona are interested in Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida. The La Liga champions are looking to offer €10m plus five million in add-ons for the Dutch defender. Barça are looking to reinforce the right-back position this summer and Geertruida has been made one of the top candidates. The 22-year-old can play as a right-back or as a central defender.
Barcelona also have eyes on Manchester City’s João Cancelo and Real Valladolid right-back Iván Fresneda, but Lutsharel Geertruida could be a cheaper option if Feyenoord are willing to sell. Last season the Netherlands international featured 30 times in the Eredivisie as Feyenoord lifted their 16th league title.
Sport says that Barcelona’s sporting director Jordi Cruyff, who will leave at the end of the month, has put Geertruida’s name forward as a possible summer signing. Former Barcelona midfielder, Deco, is said to be more keen on signing Iván Fresneda after the 18-year-old gained a season of La Liga experience with Valladolid. Feyenoord are said to be waiting for more proposals for Lutsharel Geertruida before deciding on his future.
