Ajax striker Brian Brobbey forced to drop out of Netherlands U21 squad due to injury

Brian Brobbey has had to drop out of the Netherlands U21 squad due to injury. On Sunday, during Ajax’s goalless draw with Fortuna Sittard, Brobbey had to be substituted in the 62nd minute. The 21-year-old won’t be available for his junior national team during the break.

The Netherlands U21’s take on Moldova (8th of September) and North Macedonia (12th of September) as they look to qualify for the next Euro U21 competition. New head coach, Michael Reiziger will have to make do without Brian Brobbey, who has been replaced by FC Utrecht centre-back Ryan Flamingo. Reiziger will have Strasbourg striker Emmanuel Emegha and Standard Liège’s Noah Ohio as his other striker options.

Brobbey’s injury is the second blow of the day that Michael Reiziger has had to face. On Monday morning, Ryan Gravenberch decided to opt out of the Netherlands U21 squad having completed a deadline day move from Bayern Munich to Liverpool. The midfielder wants to use the international break to adjust to life in England.
