Ajax goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli submits transfer request after losing starting spot at the club

According to Voetbal International, Gerónimo Rulli wants to leave Ajax in January after becoming the club’s second choice goalkeeper. The Amsterdammers are willing to cooperate with the Argentine international, who has previously experienced successful spells with Real Sociedad and Villareal.

Last August, Gerónimo Rulli suffered a shoulder injury which kept him out of action for three moments. The 31-year-old shot stopper returned from injury during Ajax’s 5-0 victory over Vitesse in November, which saw him spend 90 minutes on the bench. Since then, he’s been Ajax’s backup goalkeeper in every single game. Summer acquisition, Diant Ramaj has taken the number one spot, which has led to Rulli’s request to leave in January.

During the summer transfer window, Bayern Munich registered their interest in Rulli as they searched for a successor to Yan Sommer. The move never occurred and Rulli remained at the Johan Cruyff Arena. Ajax spent €8m on the goalkeeper last January. Now, he could be heading for the exit door.
