Zulte Waregem receive welcome boost as Ruud Vormer returns to training

Zulte Waregem were left fearful a month or so ago when Ruud Vormer appeared to have suffered a season ending injury. However, despite suffering a broken collarbone the 34-year-old was seen in training for the side during the international break.

Zulte Waregem recently parted ways with manager Mbaye Leye, placing another former player in Frederik D’Hollander in charge for the rest of the season. D’Hollander’s first game saw the side comeback from 2-0 down against Standard Liege to draw 2-2. Prior to taking over the former player had been in charge of the second team.

After their point against Standard, Zulte Waregem are second bottom, but only three points off safety. Their next two games are against high flying Antwerp and play-off chasing Charleroi, before they go against fellow relegation strugglers Eupen. Currently Eupen are the side Zulte Waregem are chasing and will hope to be within touching distance by the 15th of April. After that the side finish their season off with a home game against Cercle Brugge.
