Zulte Waregem looking to bring Monza’s Luca Marrone back to the club

Voetbalkrant have reported that Zulte Waregem are looking to bring in former Juventus defender Luca Marrone to improve their defence. According to their Italian sources, the relegation threatened side are looking to bring Marrone back to the club he was previously at during the 2016-2017 season. The former Italian U21 international made 28 appearances for the club during that loan period and was a member of the Zulte Waregem cup winning side of that season. Current head coach Mbaye Leye was also a member of that side.

Marrone currently plays for Monza in Serie A, having joined the club in the summer of 2021. However, he has only made three appearances for the side this season. With an injury to Modou Tambedou, Zulte Waregem are in need of defensive reinforcements and may see the players current situation as a good chance to strike a deal with the Italian side.

Given their current predicimant, the side have been active in bringing in experienced players this transfer window. So far they have brought in former Club Brugge captain Ruud Vormer and Sint-Truiden attacking midfielder Christian Brüls.
