Zeno Debast included in Belgium squad for first time, Adnan Januzaj and Dennis Praet dropped

The latest Belgium squad has been announced, and Zeno Debast has been called up for the first time while Dennis Praet and Adnan Januzaj have been dropped.

Roberto Martinez has selected a 30-man squad for the upcoming Nations League matches with the Netherlands and Wales but has only included one new face.

That new face is 18-year-old Debast, who has impressed in defence for Anderlecht so far this season and has been rewarded with a first call-up.

“No surprise,” Martínez said of his inclusion.

“Zeno has always done very well at the U19 and we knew what progress margin he had. In June, he already worked behind the scenes at the Red Devils.

“It was impressive to see him play football this season. Zeno is an impressive young player who already claims an important role at Anderlecht. At such a moment you stop looking at the age.”

Two players not in the squad are Januzaj and Praet, who were included in the last one but have been dropped having not impressed at club level.

“There are other players who have made a better league start, with more minutes. We are definitely keeping an eye on them. We know what they’re capable of,” the manager said.
