Xavi Simons leaves PSV Eindhoven and returns to PSG

Xavi Simons has left PSV Eindhoven after one season, the club has confirmed. The 20-year-old midfielder has left PSV’s training camp in Austria to complete a transfer back to Paris Saint-Germain. The French champions recently triggered the €6m buy-back clause for the midfielder, who has opted for a return to the club he left in January 2022.

Fabrizio Romano reports that there are two different routes for the future of Xavi Simons. If Kylian Mbappé or Neymar leave PSG this summer, Simons will stay in the French capital. If both players remain at the club, there’s a high chance that Simons will join another club on loan.

At PSV last season, Simons had the eyes of the world on him. The former Barcelona academy player finished the season as the Eredivisie’s joint-top scorer with 19 goals and he provided nine assists in 34 appearances as PSV finished in second place. Now, after one season with PSV, he’s made the decision to return to Paris Saint-Germain.
