Willem II sign Guardiola-backed Amar Fatah from Troyes

Willem II have signed Amar Fatah on loan from Troyes, as per Voetbal International reports. The 20-year-old Swedish youth international went through the ranks at Stockholm club AIK and made his debut in professional football at the age of seventeen.

Troyes, part of the City Football Group, allowed the youngster to trial with Pep Guardiola’s Man City side during pre-season, and the winger has clearly made his presence known in brief appearances against AC Milan and Barcelona. Speaking of his trial period with the Cityzens, Fatah said:

“The preparation under Guardiola was a unique experience. But it is important for me to keep playing matches.”

Consistent game time, clearly, is something that the newly-promoted Tilburg side can provide. On arrival, the Swede spoke of the new challenge:

“I hope I can make minutes in Tilburg, be important for the team and develop myself as a person and player. I am a winger who relies on his speed and creativity. I therefore expect that Dutch football suits me better.”

Fatah joins Willem II, who currently sit in seventh and follows in the footsteps of another fine talent – Alexander Isak:

I know that Isak also played for Willem II, his career is an example for many Swedish footballers. Hopefully I can take the same steps as he did.
