Willem II have said goodbye to ten players after their relegation from the Eredivisie. The departure of several mainstays, such as midfielder Ringo Meerveld, is also imminent.
“After the 2024-2025 season, players and staff came together one more time for the season closing ceremony”, Willem II reports on the club website. “During this meeting, farewells were also said to a number of players who will be leaving the club this summer.”
Loanees Dennis Kaygin, Kyan Vaesen, Miodrag Pivas, Amar Fatah and Cisse Sandra return to their original club. The same goes for Youssuf Sylla. His purchase option is not exercised.
In addition, Jeremy Bokila, Patrick Joosten and Maarten Schut can look ahead to a new employer. Their expiring contracts will not be extended. “Bokila played his last match for the Tricolores against SC Telstar. He will say goodbye as a King’s Child with 105 matches and 23 goals to his name.”
Tommy St. Jago is another set to leave. “The defender, who played 64 matches in red-white-blue, will be leaving on a free transfer and will be choosing a new step in his career. Willem II will be talking to Erik Schouten, Nick Doodeman, Rob Nizet and Connor van den Berg at a later date about their possible future at the club.”
Another blow for the Tilburg club comes with Ringo Meerveld. “Incidentally, tastemaker Meerveld will also leave”, says the Brabants Dagblad. “While it is still questionable whether mainstays such as Thomas Didillon-Hödl, Raffael Behounek, Amine Lachkar and Jesse Bosch will not appear on the radar of other clubs.”
