Willem II closing in on return to Eredivisie thanks to recent form

Willem II grabbed their third win in a row to continue their march towards promotion and a return to the Eredivisie. Despite a mini blip which saw them lose two on the bounce at the end of February/beginning of March, the side have returned to form with three wins in a row. Following a 3-0 win over FC Eindhoven and a 4-1 win away to FC Den Bosch, the side beat mid-table VVV-Venlo 2-0 at home this weekend.

Suriname striker Jeredy Hilterman grabbed his 13th goal in 28 games, with the striker also having grabbed six assists this season on loan from Almere City FC. Rick Ketting’s own goal just after half-time ensured another win for the side from Tilburg. Hilterman has undoubtedly been the star this season, but Jeremy Bokila with 11 and Thijs Oosting with 10 have also chipped in with goals this season. Winger Nick Doodeman leads the side in terms of assists with 11 this season.

Willem II were relegated two seasons ago, finishing their first season back in the Dutch second tier in fourth place last campaign. This time around they are five points ahead of Roda in second, with a further nine point gap to FC Groningen in third. The latter do have a game in hand, with the top two being promoted automatically this season.
