West Ham identify Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus as a possible replacement for Lucas Paquetá

According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham are interested in Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus. The Ghanaian attacking midfielder has been identified as a possible replacement for Lucas Paquetá, who is currently in the interest of Manchester City. Kudus is said to be open to the move, but it’s all down to whether or not Paquetá leaves the London Stadium this summer.

Last season Mohammed Kudus scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 42 appearances. The former Nordsjaelland talent was one of Ajax’s stand-out stars last season as the Dutch giants finished third in the Eredivisie. The 23-year-old has already kicked off the new campaign in superb fashion. He scored in the 75th minute of Ajax’s 4-1 opening day victory over Heracles.

Kudus is under contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena until 2025 but he rejected a new deal in April. The versatile midfielder would be a brilliant addition to any Premier League side. Earlier this month, Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly agreed a £40m fee with Ajax to sign the 24-time Ghana international, but no progress has been made on that move.

If Mohammed Kudus joins West Ham, he’ll link up with former teammate Edson Álvarez. The Mexican midfielder completed the move from Ajax to West Ham last week. The Premier League side have also brought in James Ward-Prowse, as they look to build on last season’s 14th place finish.
