Watford keen on signing Wesley Hoedt on loan with purchase option

Het Nieuwsblad are reporting that EFL Championship side Watford are interested in signing Anderlecht defender Wesley Hoedt on loan. The clubs are currently negotiating the wage structure of the deal, while Watford are also keen to include a purchase option.

Hoedt lost his place in the first team under Felice Mazzu, and despite a change in head coach, the player is still not considered part of the clubs plans for this season. The 28-year-old former Lazio and Southampton central defender joined the side for free from the Saints in the summer of 2021. However, after poor performances the club are looking to move Hoedt on, especially considering he is under contract until 2025.

Despite the signing of Anders Dreyer from the same club, Anderlecht are looking to sell this window. Adrien Trebel was spotted at Gent, while youngster Julien Duranville looks set to move to Dortmund for €10m plus add-ons.

Top scorer Fabio Silva, appears to be on his way to PSV, with youngster Lucas Stassin also heavily linked with a move across the other border to France. Anouar Ait El Hadj opted to remain in Belgium, joining league leaders Genk.
